In the battles over debt limits, fiscal cliffs, continuing resolutions, and the budget, the clashing sides deploy duelling vocabularies.

I miss summer days!

I grew up in a small city in China, where has rarely snowed in the past five year. I remember the best wish on each of my new year’s eve in the past five years is praying for a long lasting snow after I wake up in the next morning.

The first year I came to Boston, my dream has come true. One morning I got up early and saw a white world outside the window. White trees, white cars, white road … everything was in white that actually it’s hard to tell where are cars or roads from my window’s view. Then, I was delightful. I even said, ” when is Snow White coming?”

My feelings has changed when I experienced the snow storm this year. The first day I opened my window and kept watching the snow for a few minutes. The second day I looked at the snow outside and wondered could it be heavier? The third day I was asking my roommate when it would stop. Then, I got to know that, it’s Nemo. Obviously, I was bored. It’s impossible to hang out with friends on that bad days, and nobody would come out either. Finally, I stood by the window, and said:” There are too much snow but no Snow White at all!”

The good thing is that the weather is becoming warmer recently, which makes me fell a little better. lol. Well, I can help to ask:” When is summer coming?”

p.s. the picture above was taken at Cape Code beach. And my face tells you that “I am enjoying the summer sunshine!”

This Saturday night I am going to attend in a charity banquet, which helps underprivileged children in China get more attention in the overseas. The kids in the picture above are living in Xiangxi, Hunan ( a province in south part of China) now. They are reading a science and biology book in their classroom. They are staring at the camera like they never see this kind of machine before. Wait, it is true that they have never seen cameras before we came to the village and took photos of them!

The kid who sit down at the left side (in the picture) is wearing a scruffy coat and a cap with “2008” logo. I can’t help to keep looking at his face, since I can see nothing from it. He has neither facial expression nor emotions, especially compared with other two kids in the picture. But can you read his disappointment or sadness in his eyes? Neither. It’s strange for me. The only thing I was thinking about was that he probably already gets used to everything and would not struggle with anything.

Back to my point, I am willing to be a volunteer at this Saturday’s banquet, because I really want to help them! No matter how much my determination and actions will change their lives, I do believe that my individual efforts would make a difference to them. To donate 20 or 30 bucks to them, or buy them some books they need, which seems like “it’s not a big deal“ thing in our everyday life, is going to make their living easier, open their mind, and even change their whole life!

I don’t know whether this post would make sense for you guys, anyway, hope you can help these kids and let them know they are staying in a sweet world! Thanks!!!!

China declares war on Apple - Salon.com

The Chinese are no exception when it comes to Apple users’ loyalty, and they’re coming to the iPhone maker’s defense following a widespread state media campaign accusing the Cupertino, Calif. company of greed and arrogance.

One of the latest salvos came in an op-ed today in the Communist Party mouthpiece People’s Daily that ripped into the computer company under the headline “Destroy Apple’s Unparalleled Arrogance.”

It accuses Apple of “Westerners’ traditional sense of superiority” in its policies toward China. Although China requires all companies to offer two-year warranties for thier products, Apple has only a one-year global warranty for its devices, according to People’s Daily.

The article denounces Apple for being greedy, profit-driven, and “arrogant” in what Beijing commentator Bill Bishop calls a “fairly nasty nationalist tone.”

millions of users of [Twitter, Facebook, and other social networks] have supplanted their profile pictures with that symbol to display their support and hope that the Justices will rule in favor of marriage equality…

…but how effective is this form of online activism? Matt Buchanan considers: http://nyr.kr/YJO5TP
